IEM Welcomes Peter Klaich as Vice President, Sustainability and Waste Reduction

IEM Donations Promote Internet Safety for Children

Sprint recently partnered with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the National Education Association Health Information Network to educate parents, guardians, teachers and kids about Internet safety.  Sprint’s Project ConnectSM  encouraged cell phone recycling to make a difference in the environment and in the lives of children and families everywhere .  All donation proceeds will fund and promote free Internet safety programs that help children make safer, more informed decisions when using technology to connect with others. sprint.com/projectconnect

IEM’s charitable donation of old and unused phones to Project ConnectSM was the result of generous employee contributions in support of a very worthy and humanitarian cause.  “We are very pleased to make this donation to Project ConnectSM. I continue to be proud of our team’s dedication to make a positive impact on our local communities,” said Craig Melton, Chief Operating Officer at IEM.  “We are always seeking new and diverse avenues of recycling and fulfilling our ongoing commitment to sustain the environment.”

IEM Wins Award for Recycling Efforts

The Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) has recognized IEM for their recycling efforts.
IEM received a 2009 VRA Grammy Honorable Mention Award May 6th from the Virginia Recycling Association during its annual conference held in Lynchburg. The award is in recognition of significant waste diversion efforts achieved during 2008 by IEM clients - Prime Retail, Macerich®, Simon® Property Group, Inc., Federal Realty Investment Trust and Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust.

“This award recognizes our clients for their commitment as stewards of the environment and all the mall tenants and personnel who make the recycling programs a success,” says Peter Klaich, IEM’s Vice President of Sustainability and Waste Reduction. “We congratulate each of this year’s award winners for an outstanding job of recycling and waste reduction. This type of dedication translates into savings for both the environment and their bottom line.”
During 2008 a total of 11,702 tons of waste was produced at 7 Virginia malls. With IEM’s sustainability program in place, 3,765 of the total 11,702 tons were diverted from landfills to recycling centers, for a total waste diversion rate of 32%.
